Third Jordanian-German Energy Business Council

The objective of the Jordanian-German Energy Business Council is to bring together Jordanian and German representatives from the public and private sector to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities in the Jordanian energy sector and jointly bring forward a sustainable, reliable, and affordable supply of energy in Jordan.

The virtual event was inaugurated by H.E. Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr Florian Reindel Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Jordan and Ms. Anne Jacobs-Schleithoff Head of Division North Africa, Middle East at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).

The panel discussion, which was moderated by Christiana Hageneder (Head of Secretariat of the Jordanian German Energy Partnership) focused on The New Investment Law presented by Ms. Mais Khlaifat, Head of the Legal 
Department at Ministry of Investment (MoIn).

The four panellists Eng. Shorouq Abdelghani, Planning & Institutional Development Director at Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (MEMR), 
Eng. Ma’en Ayasrah, Head of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Unit, 
Jordanian Chamber of Industry (JCI) and Mr. Detlef Gürtler, Senior Manager GTAI Jordan, discussed how the new law affects the opportunities of energy transition investment. The event was a good opportunity for the German and Jordanian organizations and companies to promote their services and products.
